A Crystal of Snow

M. Lucille Ford

A crystal of snow is a wonderful thing

With texture as fine as a butterfly's wing;

With network of atoms like filmy spun lace,

Or petal arrangement of air flower face.

A crystal of snow is a beautiful thing

With the sparkle of drops what to spiders' webs cling

On a bright dewy morn; and the luster of pearl;

Or a diamond gleam on a glistening curl.

A crystal of snow is a curious thing-

With dew of summer - or rain of spring-

And frost of autumn mixed into it all

The flowers of cloudland that earthward do fall.

What is Snow?

Penny Carter

If there are some water drops

    Falling through the air,

And the temperature is low,

     Snow will soon be there.

Every snowflake has six sides.

     Next I'll tell you that

Some of them have pointy ends

     While other ends are flat.

Look them over carefully;

I'm sure that you will see,

Every one looks different

     Just like you and me!

Winter Night

ClaudeWeimer

Winter winds are blowing,

     Snow is drifting deep;

Cuddled under cover,

     Earth has gone to sleep.

Cozy in their houses

     Little children stay,

Where bright fires are burning

     To keep the cold away.

Snug in caves and burrows

     Wild things safe are curled,

While the feet of winter

     Tramp across the world.

Snowfall

Margaret Hillert

Someone in the sky last night

Had an awful pillow fight,

And when I woke today I found

All the feathers on the ground.

Snowy Benches

Aileen Fisher

Do parks get lonely

in winter, perhaps,

when benches have only

snow in their laps?

Winter Poem

Nikki Giovanni

once a snowflake fell

on my brow and i loved

it so much and i kissed

it and it was happy and called its cousins

and brothers and a web

of snow engulfed me then

i reached to love them all

and i squeezed them and they became

a spring rain and i stood perfectly

still and was a flower.

Runny Nose

Kay Winters

It's just not funny

When your nose is runny;

You feel all soggy,

Hoarse  and froggy.

Your throat is scratching;

The germs are hatching.

You know it's catching~

KERCHOOO!

Snowy Sidewalk

Mabel Pool

We watched our walk fill up with snow.

It looked so soft and smooth!

And then the paper boy rode by

And gave our walk a groove!

January

In January

it's so nice

while slipping

on the sliding ice

to sip hot chicken soup

with rice.

Sipping once

sipping twice

sipping chicken soup

with rice.

Thumbs in the Thumb - Place

Thumbs in the thumb - place

Fingers all together!

This is the song

We sing in mitten - weather.

When it is cold,

It doesn't matter whether

Mittens are wool,

Or made of finest leather.

This is the song

We sing in mitten - weather:

Thumbs in the thumb - place

Fingers all together.

Snow

Snow makes whiteness where it falls,

The bushes look like popcorn balls,

And places where I always play,

Look like somewhere else today.

Snow
The snow fell softly all the night
It made a blanket soft and white.
It covered houses, flowers and ground,
But it didn't make a single sound!

Winter Birds
I can't go visit a snowbird -
I don't know where he stays.

I can't go visit a chickadee -
He has such flitty ways.

I can't go visit a blue jay
Atop a snowy tree,

And so I scatter seeds around
And have them visit ME.

How to Talk to Your Snowman

By: Beverly McLoughland

Use words that are pleasing,

Like: freezing

And snow,

 Iceberg and igloo

And blizzard and blow,

Try: Arctic, Antarctic,

Say: shiver and shake,

But whatever you never say,

Never say: Bake.
