Journals

The purpose of journals is to:

 expand students' vocabularies;

increase student's desire to write clearly to express

ideas, emotions, revelations, and observations;

help students solve their own problems by writing

down possible solutions;

precipitate behavior changes--writing about

behavior can help change it, and journals can help

students see themselves from a different point of

view;

sharpen students' not-taking skills;

remind students of accomplishments that they might

otherwise forget;

create a dialogue both between the student and the

teacher and between the students and his or her

thoughts and feelings.
